Guest lecture on Pre surgical Orthodontics and Orthognathic surgery

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics conducted a Guest lecture on “Pre surgical orthodontics and Orthognathic surgery“ on 18th March 2025. The resource person was our alumnus and Adjunct Professor Dr. Manish Valiathan who is based in Cleveland and is Associate Dean of Clinical affairs and Director of Cleft Craniofacial Orthodontics and special care fellowship program at School of Dental Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. Our faculty Dr Srikanth G and Dr Adarsh? Kudva from the Department of Oral surgery provided their insights on the orthodontic cases requiring surgical interventions.

The program started with a lecture by Dr Manish on principles of Pre surgical orthodontics for class II and Class III cases treated at the School of Dental Medicine. This was followed by a presentation of surgical management of Class III malocclusions by Dr Srikanth and later a discussion on surgical management of Facial asymmetry by Dr Adarsh. A chair side case discussion of orthognathic surgery cases in various stages of treatment was organized in the afternoon. The inauguration was presided by our Dean Dr Monica Solomon. The program witnessed a participation by 61 dental professionals.
